Pell grants are the foundation of federal student financial assistance. Aid from other federal and nonfederal sources could be added to the grant. Pell grants are generally awarded to undergraduate students who have demonstrated financial need as determined by the FAFSA®, and award amounts can change yearly. Grant money does not need to be paid back upon completion of the school program.
The amount of your Federal Pell Grant depends on your cost of attendance, expected family contribution, enrollment status (full-time or part-time), and whether you attend for a full academic year or less. The academic year runs from July 1 through June 30 of the following year.
Student loans, unlike grants, must be repaid with interest. Loans made through this program are referred to as Direct Loans, and they come with a fixed lifetime interest rate. Eligible students and parents borrow directly from the U.S. Department of Education. There are three types of loans in the program:
Students under the age of 24 are sometimes considered dependent. Learn more about how the Federal Department of Education defines dependency status.
Financial Aid recipients understand that monies received on their behalf are applied first to tuition costs. Any remaining funds available for the student will be paid to the student only when the course costs have been paid in full.
Even if you do not qualify for federal financial aid, you could still take advantage of our school’s convenient payment plan options. Contact our Financial Aid office to determine which payment plan fits your needs. We accept cash, credit cards, and personal check payments.
Scholarships offer money that does not have to be repaid, which makes them worth the extra effort it takes to find and apply for them. You might not win every scholarship you apply for, but you don’t know until you try! Here are a couple of places to find scholarships that are available to students going to a beauty school:
We encourage you to do your own research, too.
Financial aid can cover the costs of tuition, school fees, school supplies, and books. Depending on what you qualify for, it could cover the full cost of your beauty school education or a portion of the cost.
You may be eligible for federal aid if you are a part-time student. Fill out the FAFSA® to find out.
Getting a student loan from a bank or other financial institution is a good way to borrow the money you need to pay for your educational costs, especially if you don’t qualify for a federal loan. Talk to your loan manager about the interest rate and when you need to start paying back the loan.
