At Total Image Beauty Academy, we train students in the theory and skills they need to know to sit for the State Exam. We teach through classroom lectures, demonstrations, and skill practice. Part of our curriculum includes providing services to actual clients under the direct supervision of licensed instructors. Our beauty school in Union City, New Jersey, is Latin-focused, and the skin care specialist program is offered in Spanish. Gain the Experience You Need While Learning About Skin Care

Are you looking for a way to become a skin care professional? You could complete our 600-hour skin care specialist program in as few as five months! Gain the knowledge you need at Total Image Beauty Academy, and then practice your skills in the student clinic under the direct supervision of licensed instructors. This blend of classroom work and practical work can give you a well-rounded skin care education, so you can be prepared for a professional future in the skin care industry.

The first half of the program is spent in the classroom. Student work consists of lectures, book reviews, and hands-on demonstrations related to various aspects of skin care, including facials, make-up, massage, waxing, aromatherapy, and galvanic and high frequency current. Dedicated instructors evaluate and test your work, ensuring you are meeting the requirements.

During the second half of the program, you can practice on clients under the direct supervision of licensed instructors. Your time is balanced with additional lectures, hands-on demonstrations, and evaluations from your instructors. There may be additional class projects to work on, as well as real-world business lessons that discuss salon management and related topics.

One of our goals is to ensure each student is ready to embark on a professional career in the skin care industry. We prepare you to sit for the State Exam, so you can achieve your professional license as a skin care specialist. You should not feel as if you are alone after graduation! We can’t guarantee that you will be employed, but our program includes job placement assistance that could help you find your place in the community. We invite local skincare professionals to present their skills to our students, which also helps students network with current professionals.

Our skin care specialist program is offered as a Spanish-speaking course. Learn from Spanish-speaking instructors who care about you and respect your Latin culture. The atmosphere at our school is fun and relaxed, and we hope each student feels comfortable here!

Go to School Full-Time or Part-Time

One of the advantages of attending our Union City beauty school is that you can choose a schedule that works for you. We offer a variety of schedules, including:

  • Full-time: Monday-Friday, 9:00 am – 3:30 pm, for a total of 30 hours a week
  • Part-time day: Monday-Friday, 9:00 am – 1:00 pm, for a total of 20 hours per week
  • Part-time evening: Monday–Thursday, 6:00 pm – 10:00 pm, for a total of 16 hours a week

Classes begin on the first Monday of every month unless otherwise scheduled. Begin your enrollment journey whenever you are ready!

Frequently Asked Questions About Our Skin Care Specialist Program

What is the cost of attending this program?

Tuition for the program is $9,012. Books and kit cost $1,452. Uniforms cost $100. There is also a $100 registration fee. Total cost is $10,664.

Could I apply for financial aid?

We can offer financial aid to those who qualify. Find out if you qualify by filling out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA®). Let us know if you have any questions about the FAFSA®.

How long does it take to complete the program?

The length of the program depends on the schedule you choose. Full-time students could complete the program in as little as 20 weeks or 5 months. Students who choose the part-time option during the day could complete the program in as few as 30 weeks or 7.5 months. Students in the part-time evening schedule could complete the program in as little as 38 weeks or 10 months.

Is the skin care specialist program available in English?

No. At this time, we only offer the skin care specialist program in Spanish.

What is included in the student kit?

Students receive a variety of tools and products that they need to complete the program, and which they can keep for their future careers. The skin care specialist kit includes items like white terry towels, capes, headbands, a deep dish bowl, spatulas, massage cream, moisturizer, cold wax kit, make-up products, massage and make-up head, and more.

  • You must have a valid high school diploma or GED.
  • If you have a foreign diploma, it must be translated and evaluated by a recognized agency.
  • You need to provide us with a copy of a state or federally issued photo ID.
  • You must pay a $100 registration fee.
  • You must complete our enrollment package.
